Harry Kane’s terrible luck continues with Bayern Munich

England captain Harry Kane finally left Tottenham last weekend, ending months and years of transfer speculation by joining German champions Bayern Munich.

The striker has signed for an initial 100m Euros and debuted for his new club last weekend against RB Leipzig.

Kane leaves Spurs as one of their greatest-ever players and their record goal scorer, scoring 280 goals in 435 appearances.

Despite the individual honors for Tottenham, Kane leaves North London without a single trophy in his possession.

Kane had the option of staying for another year and seeing out his contract or signing a new deal and trying to break Alan Shearer's Premier League goal-scoring record.

In a 19-year career at Tottenham, starting when he was 11 years old, Kane had finished second in the Premier League, lost in the Champions League Final and two League Cup Finals.

Kane joins Bayern Munich, who have won the last 11 Bundesliga and two Champions League titles in the last ten years.

Kane was registered to play just in time for Bayern's German Super Cup game against RB Leipzig, thinking he would have played one game and won one trophy.

The game didn't go to plan for Kane and his Bayern teammates, losing 3-0 to Leipzig with Dani Olmo scoring a hattrick for Bayern's rivals.

Kane came on as a substitute in the 63rd minute of the contest and was unable to make a significant impact to change the tide for his new club.

Many fans believe the unfortunate events for the German champions were down to Kane and his seemingly bad luck from his time at Spurs.

Bayern had won six of the last eight German Super Cups and hadn't lost one since 2019.

For Kane, he will be praying that this isn't the start of a trophyless season for Bayern, who didn't last win the league in the 2011-12 season when Borussia Dortmund won it.

Bayern Munich kicks off their Bundesliga defense with a tough away fixture against Werder Bremen on Friday night.

Despite the surprising loss to Leipzig in Kane's first trophy attempt, Bayern's chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen is convinced Kane will carry on the success story.

According to bbc.co.uk, Dreesen said: "World-class center forwards have always been an important factor when FC Bayern has celebrated its greatest triumphs, and we're convinced that Harry Kane will continue this success story."
