How much money did Rafael Nadal make in his career?
Rafael Nadal's career is now tennis history. The tennis player from Manacor (Balearic Islands, Spain) has retired at the age of 38, after losing his last Davis Cup match, but with an overwhelming sporting legacy and, above all, a comfortable financial cushion.
It's been 19 years since Rafa Nadal won his first Grand Slam (Roland Garros 2005) and 26 since he signed his first major contract (Nike). He can boast of having become a multimillionaire as well as a tennis legend.
According to the ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) website, Rafa Nadal has accumulated $134.9 million in prize money, adding up to the 92 individual titles he has won throughout his career (22 of them Grand Slams).

To this amount, we must add the $550 million that Forbes estimates that Rafa Nadal has earned from his sponsorships, appearances, and commercial work. That is, around $685 million in total.
Despite the extraordinary figure, Rafa Nadal is far behind his teammate, rival, and friend Roger Federer, who earned $1.1 billion in another exemplary and extraordinary sporting career that ended in 2022.
In the case of Rafa Nadal, if there is one thing that has prevailed among his sponsors, it has been loyalty. The man from Manacor signed with Kia in 2004 and with Babolat in 2001 (when he was 9 years old) and has remained loyal to them, although he has added other brands to his portfolio of sponsors.
Now, if there has been a long and fruitful business relationship in Nadal's career, it has been the one he has maintained with Nike. The American company bet on the young tennis player back in 1998, when he was barely 12 years old, aware that he would end up being a symbol of its tennis section, with his line of clothing and shoes, with models designed by himself.
Obviously, in parallel to his sporting career, Rafa Nadal has been increasing his investments, assets, and businesses with hotels or the recognizable and applauded Rafael Nadal Tennis Academy.
What's more, a significant part of Real Madrid fans see Rafa Nadal as the ideal successor to Florentino Pérez as president of Real Madrid and the former tennis player does not deny that it is an idea that appeals to him.
However, the income that Nadal now receives would have to be accounted for elsewhere and, given his progress, it seems likely that it will exceed what he earned while active. The legend of Nadal the businessman is now beginning to take shape.
