Rookie of the year

There was little doubt that Caitlin Clark was going to be a superstar in the WNBA, having been selected number one overall by the Indiana Fever. Now, after a record-breaking rookie season, Clark has proven her doubters wrong time and time again.

Destined for greatness

Clark not only won the WNBA Rookie of the Year, she also led the Indian Fever to the playoffs for the first time since 2016. Despite a first-round exit, every sign is pointing to Clark being one of the best players in the league for years to come.

Bolstering the roster

Now, after returning to the playoffs and getting a taste of postseason action, the Fever and Clark will want to bolster their roster to challenge for a championship in the near future.

Enticing big names

Indiana has big plans to add talent around Clark. They expect the opportunity to play with a generational talent like her to be enough to entice the best free agents on the market.

Kelly Krauskopf

According to Sports Illustrated, Indiana Fever president Kelly Krauskopf spoke about Clark and the draw she hopes to create in the upcoming free agency.

"You would want to play with her"

"I would think that if you are a smart basketball player and you watch the way [Caitlin Clark] plays, you would want to play with her."

Playmaking ability

Clark has made a name for herself due to her ability to pull up from anywhere on the court and hit a three-point shot. However, his basketball IQ and playmaking ability to make others better have been understated.

Assists record

Just look at this season: Clark recorded the most assists in WNBA history in a single season with 337, making her the assists leader for the season. She also registered 19 in one game, a WNBA single-game record.

A no-brainer?

Krauskopf is correct in his assessment of Clark. Who wouldn't want to play with a generational talent with so much upside? Who can dish the rock and create accessible scoring opportunities for their teammates?

Title contenders

It's been some time since the Indiana Fever have been seen as potential title contenders. Despite that, with Clark at the helm and some high-caliber additions in the free agency, it would be silly to right the Fever off next year.

Some jealousy?

While she is an elite talent in the WNBA, Clark has been publicly scrutinized by some of her peers in the media, with some of the players seemingly jealous of the attention she has received.

Who's a free agent?

The Spotrac website has produced a list of all the WNBA stars available in 2025 free agency, and some notable players could form a formidable partnership with Clark.

Breanna Stewart

The standout star on the list and a player who could guarantee championship success is the New York Liberty's Breanna Stewart. The forward has averaged 20.4 points and 8.5 rebounds this season and has won two championships, two Finals MVPs, and two regular season MVPs.

Brionna Jones

Connecticut Suns forward Brionna Jones is a colossal rebounding and paint presence in the WNBA and will have tons of joy playing with Clark. The three-time All-Star averaged 13.7 points and 5.5 rebounds in 2024 and could be perfect for Clark in clearing the glass.

Kelsey Plum

Former number one overall pick Kelsey Plum knows what it takes to win. She has won two WNBA Championships in her career and become a three-time All-Star. Plum is an elite playmaker who could free up Clark's shooting ability and take her to the next level.

Got to get it right

The Indiana Fever have some tough decisions to make on what personnel they should bring on board, but it will be imperative that they get it right to ensure Clark stays for the long run.
