Gareth Southgate's England put in another sub-par performance in their second group game against Denmark, drawing the game 1-1, with England only managing four shots on target.

'Same old, same old'

According to The Guardian, England fans described the performance as "Crap", "dreadful", "awful" and "same old, same old." However, after their performance against Serbia, should England fans be surprised?

The 'Three Lions' got off to a perfect start at Euro 2024, securing their first three points against Serbia. Jude Bellingham's first goal secured Southgate's first victory in the tournament, however, the match was far from a classic... Some would say it was rather boring!

Serbians had more shots

The Serbian national team, led by Dragan Stojković, outshot the English team with six shots to five and held 47% of possession (11 shots total). Nevertheless, it was not enough to level the scoreboard.

According to The Sun, fans from both sides had the same thing to say after the game, labelling it as "boring" or "trademark Southgate".

According to Opta, this was the lowest number of shots taken in a match at the Euros since 1980. Meanwhile, Germany, Spain, and Italy have secured their first points with some great performances, further fuelling the 'favourite' debate.

Jude Bellingham led the English team to their first victory, after a fantastic header inside the box. The English star underlined how it was a "when you keep a clean sheet, all you have to do is score one goal."

England could have made it 2-0 in the second half as Jarrod Bowen crossed a perfect ball into Harry Kane but Serbian Predrag Rajkovic pulled off a great save to keep the margin to one.
