Perfect weekend

LeBron James and Bronny James had weekends to remember, with the father and son making strides in their basketball careers.

NBA Cup victory

The first to perform was LeBron James on Saturday night in Las Vegas as the four-time MVP led his Los Angeles Lakers team to the inaugural NBA Cup against the Indiana Pacers.

Leading LA

James scored 24 points, eleven rebounds, and four assists as the Lakers defeated the young and hungry Pacers team 109-123 in the championship game.

Deciding games

The victory on Sunday now means James is 8-0 in deciding games in his NBA career, a record that may continue to come in handy as the NBA Playoffs get closer.

MVP

James capped off his perfect weekend by winning the first NBA Cup MVP award after averaging 26.4 points, eight rebounds, and 7.6 assists.

12 MVP awards

His NBA Cup MVP award is the 12th MVP of his career, securing four regular season MVPs, four Finals MVPs, and three All-Star MVPs before his recent addition to the collection.

Watching Bronny

Despite his success over the weekend, 'The King' would have been most proud of watching his son Bronny play his first college game for the University of Southern California.

Five months after cardiac arrest

Bronny James made his college debut on Sunday night just five months after suffering from a cardiac arrest that could have ended his basketball career.

Box score

The 19-year-old finished the game with four points, three rebounds, and two assists in 16 minutes on Sunday night against Long Beach State after starting the game on the bench.

Defensive end

Bronny only made one field goal in the game, but his work on the defensive end stood out in his debut, raising the roof with a signature chase-down block and grabbing three defensive rebounds and two steals.

A loss

Bronny's return to the court was more highly anticipated than the game itself, but USC failed to capitalize on the energy in the building, losing 79-84.

Good to be back

Despite the loss, the return of Bronny James was a happy sight for basketball fans across the world after fully recovering from his life-or-death situation.

'Thankful for everything'

According to talksport.com, Bronny said: "I just wanted to say I'm thankful for everything, The Mayo Clinic and everything they helped me with, my parents and siblings supporting me through this hard time in my life. I want to give appreciation to everyone who's helped me through this."

Emotional for LeBron

His dad, LeBron, couldn't hold back how proud he was of his son, writing a lengthy tribute on Instagram about how emotional his debut was for the basketball GOAT.

‘You’re simply INCREDIBLE!!’

According to @kingjames on Instagram, LeBron said: "Can't even tell y'all how EMOTIONAL today was for me! I'm literally drained and all I can say is @bronny you're simply INCREDIBLE!!"

‘You’ve already won the ultimate goal’

"Damn, the wins and losses that will occur. You've already won the ultimate goal/championship, and that's LIFE!! Proud of you kid, and today you've given me more life! Thank you, and I love you."
