Making a return

After USA's embarrassing losses to Germany and Canada in the FIBA World Cup, GOAT LeBron James has confirmed he wants to return to Team USA for the 2024 Olympics.

Team of stars

According to NBA insider Shams Charania of The Athletic, James plans to commit to Team USA along with Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Anthony Davis, Jayson Tatum, and Draymond Green.

USA super team

According to theathletic.com, Devin Booker, Kyrie Irving, Damian Lillard, and De'Aaron Fox have also shown interest in creating a USA super team for Paris 2024.

Over ten years

James has competed at three Olympic Games, winning two gold medals in 2008 and 2012. His last appearance for USA was at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

'Last Dance'

According to league sources, James is viewing the Paris games as his 'Last Dance' for USA basketball, with Durant and Curry also feeling the same way about the games.

The perfect setting

A final dance for his country in the romantic city of Paris would be a perfect setting for a fairytale ending in his international career and maybe his professional career.

Decision before USA loss

James has confirmed that he had decided to join Team USA for the 2024 Olympics before USA's loss in the FIBA World Cup.

Give the young guys a chance

Team USA always has a deep pool of talent to select from for international events, with their main strategy being to give the young guys a chance to win and progress with a young core of NBA guys.

Affecting the future

Letting James and his fellow superstars have a chance to win in Paris would crush the USA Basketball current model and may affect their tournament finishes in future events.

Previous tournaments

The USA has lost in their last two FIBA World Cup events and just about beat France in the Olympic Gold Medal game in the 2020 Tokyo Games.

Becoming formidable again

The USA have shown they are not a formidable force in basketball anymore, but with the formation of the James-led USA team, that notion will likely be crushed if the stars come out in Paris.

Teams in the past

The USA has had a history of creating legendary teams after losing in tournaments previously, with the 1992 Olympic 'Dream Team' being formed after losing to the Soviet Union in 1988 and the 2008 'Redeem Team' redeemed the team's Olympic loss in 2004.

Veterans

James, 39, Durant, 35, and Curry, 35, are coming into the twilights of their careers, and a deep playoff run with their teams may make it difficult to perform to their best at the Olympics.

Current team

Anthony Edwards, the USA's top scorer at the World Cup, and Mikel Bridges came out as small success stories for the USA, and both hope to play a part at the Olympics next year.

Sports icon

Whoever plays for Team USA at the Olympics next year, seeing LeBron James there could potentially transcend the sport to even greater heights and sustain his legacy as a sports icon.

Strike some fear

With James being 40 by the time the Olympics roll around, it is uncertain whether he will have the gas left to compete next year, but it is a clear intention from the basketball GOAT that the USA isn't to be messed with at international level.
