Mock Draft 9.0 Picks 1-16: A QB for you, and a QB for you!

The NFL is becoming more and more of a quarterback’s league, so it should come as no surprise that there are going to be myriad signal-callers chosen in the first round this year, but let’s take a look at who could end up where.

When the Bears traded away Justin Fields, Williams may as well have chosen his jersey number, this is a lock.

We disagree with it, but Daniels has become the in-vogue QB during the run-up to the draft. For us, Drake Maye is a better prospect, but Daniels should at least be entertaining.

Rhett Lewis of NFL Network described the Pats' offense as, “anemic” over the past few seasons, which is tough to argue. Given who’s available, if the Pats don’t take a QB here, they’re doing their fans a disservice.

The Vikings have positioned themselves well to make a trade into the top four to grab a QB, sending the Cardinals the number 11 and 23 picks. McCarthy isn’t a player we love, but many in NFL circles are high on him.

We like Marvin Harrison Jr. a little more than Nabers, but we can see the appeal of the former LSU Tiger. Nabers and Herbert should be a match made in heaven.

The Giants need a whole heap of talent across their roster, but when someone with as much potential as Harrison falls into your lap, you have to take them. Mel Kiper has Harrison as his top wideout, which is about as good an endorsement as you can get.

If the Chargers pass on Alt at five, there is no chance he gets beyond the Titans with his pick. He is the sort of player that solves a lot of problems for an offensive line.

Dallas Turner is certainly an option here, and has been the selection in previous mocks, but as Cory Giddings for Bleacher Report says, “The Falcons should be in the market for a cornerback,” and Arnold is the best on our board.

There is certainly an argument that wide receiver is the pick here, but with D.J. Moore and Keenan Allen in place, that could wait a year. If Turner falls to nine, the Bears should take him and not think twice.

The Jets need a better offensive line, Olumuyiwa Fashanu is the best tackle prospect left at number 10, so take him and protect Aaron Rodgers as best you can.

Per ESPN, 23 of Odunze’s 92 catches last year came on deep routes, showing that despite his size (6’3”, 215 lbs) he has variety to his game. The Cardinals could do with another weapon for Kyler Murray, and Odunze is just that.

Penix goes number 13 in Garrett Podell’s latest mock, but we can’t see him falling past the Broncos at 12. Sean Payton needs a QB, and Penix is arguably the best available.

The Raiders could go in a variety of directions here, offensive tackle, QB, and even EDGE have all been mocked to them in recent times. But we really like Mitchell and could see him becoming a key man in Antonio Pierce’s defense.

The Saints need to rebuild their offensive line, especially the left tackle spot. Fuaga is more of a right tackle, but given the need, the Saints could slide him over.

There is starting to be more and more buzz around Brock Bowers to the Colts, something we have mocked for months, but this time around, we’re trying to change our thinking a little and send them Jared Verse who may well be the best pass rusher in the draft.

Mel Kiper wrote, “they don't have the luxury of waiting to fill their biggest hole, which is at guard,” in a recent mock draft, which is something we struggle to argue with. In other mocks, we have been sending them defensive players, but if they can’t protect their QB, it’s all for nothing anyway.
