Recommended Fantasy Football Week 14 Waiver Wire Pickups
In most competitive fantasy football leagues, Week 14 serves as the final chance for mangers to work their way into the playoffs. Teams that are mathematically eliminated from the postseason should also take things seriously though, as their matchup could have important ramifications. Here are some pick up options to target for this crucial slate of upcoming games.
There’s a good chance that Spears isn’t floating around on a waiver wire, as he’s been interspersed into Tennessee’s offensive attack all year. However, double checking the Titans back’s availability is strongly encouraged, as starting running back Derrick Henry left Week 13’s contest with a possible concussion. Spears would garner 20+ touches in all likelihood if Henry was ruled out.
This isn’t 2017, so readers may be wondering why Elliott makes the list during the current fantasy football season. He’s not the most inspiring play, but his workload on Sunday after Rhamondre Stevenson went down reminds fans that he’s the clear cut number two back in New England. Elliott may be a weak flex play, but picking him up also ensures an opponent won’t get him.
Unfortunately for Houston, it looks like they’ll have to play the rest of their season without the services of exciting rookie wide receiver Tank Dell. Nico Collins had a phenomenal game in Week 13, while none of the other Texans’ receivers popped in Dell’s absence. Take a flier on Brown though, who was awesome for Houston a few weeks ago and has returned to their lineup.
Saints quarterback Derek Carr is as tough as they come, and it’ll take a lot to keep him out of action. We’ll see if he’s able to do enough over the course of the week to suit up in Week 14, but snagging Winston as a streaming option isn’t the worst idea. NFL fans know he’ll push the ball down the field, which usually translates to fantasy production.
Fantasy football can be a frustrating game week in and week out, but certain things become clear over the course of the season. One of those truths is that starting a defense against the Carolina Panthers usually will be a fruitful decision. New Orleans faces the 1-11 Panthers next week, and would serve as a solid, if not potentially week-winning play.
Based on how well San Francisco has played, it doesn’t feel like Christian McCaffery is going to be derailed from finishing the year on a high note. However, all it takes is one inopportune hit to change those plans, and fantasy managers should at least prepare for that contingency. Mitchell came in to spell McCaffery during their blowout win on Sunday, and is a valuable insurance policy.
Aaron Jones has had something of a lost season with lingering hamstring and knee issues, and fans know that Green Bay will turn to A.J. Dillon if the former can’t play. However, Dillon hasn’t exactly lit the world on fire during his opportunities, and the Packers may turn to Patrick Taylor a bit more down the stretch. Taylor looked more explosive against Kansas City on Sunday.
Trey McBride has been a fantasy revelation at tight end, but won’t be available to managers looking to get a Week 14 win since the Arizona Cardinals are on bye. Giving Kmet a long look to fill that lineup spot would be a good idea. Before Chicago had their bye, he reeled in seven passes on seven targets against the Minnesota Vikings.
