Final Moves To Secure A Championship

If you’re still playing fantasy football heading into Week 17, it probably means you’re vying for your league’s championship. Getting this far is an accomplishment in and of itself, but finishing the job would be the cherry on top of an amazing season. We’ll take a look at options on the waiver wire that can help deliver a title.

Los Angeles Rams D/ST

If the Rams are available on your waiver wire, use any remaining free agent auction budget or priority waiver claim to pick them up. Los Angeles takes on the New York Giants next week, who just benched Tommy DeVito in favor of Tyrod Taylor. New York is sputtering to the finish line, and should have a difficult time moving the ball against the Rams.

WR Demarcus Robinson, Los Angeles Rams

While Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp get all the attention(rightfully so), another Los Angeles receiver has become fantasy relevant in recent weeks. Robinson has scored a touchdown in each of his last four games. Additionally, he’s averaged six targets in each of those contests as well, making him a reliable streamer, or someone a fantasy manager might want to block an opponent from getting.

RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs have navigated around a myriad of injuries to their backfield in recent weeks, and may have to do so once again in Week 17. Starting running back Isiah Pacheco had his head kicked after losing his helmet in Week 16, and may not play due to a concussion. With Jerick McKinnon already on injured reserve, Edwards-Helaire may handle the lion’s share of carries.

TE Christian Okonkwo, Tennessee Titans

Tennessee’s offense remains one of the least pass-heavy in the NFL, but their high value targets consistently go to a few players. It may make sense to scoop Okonkwo up if Ryan Tannehill is under center in Week 17, as the two seemed to have a solid connection. Rookie passer Will Levis hasn’t focused on the tight end as much when he’s started.

TE Juwan Johnson, New Orleans Saints

The Saints can be a difficult team to figure out from week to week, but Johnson continues to play a large role at tight end. While he’s not going to dominate from a volume perspective, Johnson tends to be a preferred option in the red zone. Quarterback Derek Carr looked his way in their last game as the pair connected on a touchdown.

Las Vegas Raiders D/ST

They weren’t an attractive unit heading into the season, but the Raiders have found their stride on defense. This was evident against the Kansas City Chiefs on Christmas Day, as they turned two turnovers into touchdowns. Las Vegas faces a frisky but pedestrian Indianapolis Colts attack in Week 17, and should have similar success.

WR Demario Douglas, New England Patriots

New England came away with a stunning road victory on Sunday night against the Denver Broncos, and Douglas was a main reason why. Bailey Zappe targeted him nine times in the contest, which allowed Douglas to catch five passes for 74 yards. Expect the Patriots to continue featuring their young players, which should give Douglas a chance to maintain fantasy relevancy.

QB Nick Mullens, Minnesota Vikings

To Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell’s credit, he has not pared down the game plan with Mullens under center. The team has continued to prioritize getting the ball into the hands of their playmakers through the air. While Mullens has thrown interceptions, his willingness to push the ball down the field has given him fantasy value in his own right.
