Here are all the big plays that made the game so epic

The Kansas City Chiefs went head-to-head with the Philadelphia Eagles last night at Glendale Arizona's State Farm Field in an epic battle to win Super Bowl LVII.

A Super Bowl filled with highs and lows

It was a tense game, filled with a lot of highs and lows that made for several picture-perfect moments. Here are 16 pictures that tell the story of the Super Bowl LVII based on analysis from The Sporting News' Dan Treacy and Sam Jardin.

A tearful beginning

The Chiefs took the field first but it was Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni that stole the open ceremonies with his tears during the national anthem.

The Eagles get the first touchdown

Philadelphia started with the ball but the pressure didn't stop Jalen Hurts from driving down the field quickly. Hurts got the Eagles to the goal line and snuck into the Chiefs' end zone for the first touchdown of Super Bowl LVII.

Kansas City responds in kind

Travis Kelce couldn't let Philedlphia's touchdown go unanswered and broke away from Marcus Epps to catch a pass from Patrick Mahomes for Kansas City's first touchdown of the night.

Kelce makes another big catch

Philadelphia couldn't make a play and possession reverted to Kansas City. Mahomes found Kecle again for another huge pass across the field.

Harrison Butker misses a big opportunity

The Chiefs can't find their way into the endzone and brought out Harrison Butker for an attempt at a 42-yard field goal. The kick flew left and didn't find its mark. Kansas City missed a big opportunity to get ahead and the first quarter ended tied at 7-7.

Touchdown Eagles

Philadelphia started the second quarter off in a strong position after Hurts found A.J Brown in the endzone for a 45-yard touchdown.

Philadelphia FUMBLES!

Hurts fumbled the ball and Kansas City linebacker Nick Bolton picked it up to run for a touchdown. The Chiefs equalized the score at 14-14 and ruined Philadelphia's shot at controlling the momentum of the game before halftime, or so they thought.

Redemption for Jalen Hurts

Hurts ran for 28 yards to convert on the 4th down and five minutes later walked into Kansas City's end zone to give the Eagles their third touchdown of the night.

FIELD GOAL Philadelphia

The Chiefs couldn't answer Philadelphia's touchdown and the Eagles took possession. Sirianni was forced to bring out Jake Elliot and he nailed a 35-yard field goal in the last three seconds of the second quarter. The Eagles went into halftime with a commanding 24-14 lead.

Kansas City's starts the third quarter strong

Mahomes started the third quarter with a strong run down the field. Then Pacheco found his way into Phildalpheia's end zone with a short burst from the goal line to put the game within three points.

Field goal Eagles

After a grueling drive down the field, the Eagles were forced to attempt a field goal, which was good. But Philadelphia gave the Chiefs a shot at taking the lead in the fourth. The game stood at 27-21 at the end of the third quarter.

Kansas City takes the lead

The Chiefs took the lead by one point early in the fourth quarter after Kadarius Toney walked the ball into Philedalphia's end zone for his first touchdown of the night.

The Chiefs take control of Super Bowl LVII

A bad punt gave Kansas City the opportunity to take control of the game and Mahomes didn't waste it. A pass found Skyy Moore and he made his way to Philadelphia's end zone, giving the Chiefs an 8-point lead.

The Eagles game-tying touchdown and two point conversion

After an unbelievable pass to DeVonta Smith, Hurts was able to equalize the game from the goal line with his fourth touchdown of the night and a stunning two-point conversion... Super Bowl LVII sat at 35-35 with 5-plus minutes left.

The Chiefs make their final field goal

After a bad officiating call on James Bradberry, the Chiefs ran down the clock before Butker was pulled out and made a successful field goal with 8 seconds remaining in the game.
