France picked up their first three points at Euro 2024 with a 1-0 win over Austria in their opening match. However, Les Bleus had to finish the match without their main man, Kylian Mbappe.

No surgery

"He has returned to the base camp of the French team," the FFF explained. "He will undergo treatment in the coming days, without undergoing surgery immediately."

He will play with a mask

According to the BBC, the FFF will ensure that a mask is made for when Mbappe returns to play for Les Bleus.

Yellow card

Mappe received treatment after the incident and had to be escorted off the pitch by French medical staff. However, shortly afterwards, he went to sit on the pitch and was yellow-carded.

Didier Deschamps

Mbappe did so to allow his coach Didier Deschamps to make a substitution, something the France manager had planned to do immediately after the phase, but was not allowed to do by Spanish referee Jesus Gil Manzano.

"This is out of order"

"He’s gone back on the pitch, whether he’s trying to stop the play, but just sitting on the pitch, I don’t like to see this… this is out of order," former footballer and pundit Roy Keane explained to ITV Sport.

"He deserved that yellow card"

"Listen, whether he’s been instructed by the manager to go back, he’s had treatment, he’s come off. To go back on and sit on the pitch, he deserved that yellow card – you don’t like to see it!" Keane continued.

Gary Neville

"I think he [Mbappe] looks at Deschamps and he’s gone ‘get on’. I think he’ll think he’s let himself down," Gary Neville shared Keane's view. What do you think? Let us know in the comments!
