Injured

Team GB's Keely Hodgkinson has said her season is over due to an unspecified injury, meaning she won't compete in Berlin or the final two Diamond League meetings in Zurich and Brussels.

"See you on the track next year"

In a post on Instagram, Hodgkinson said: "No more races for me!! Unfortunately, I picked up a small injury, but we achieved everything I had hoped to do this year, thank you for all the love and support!! See you on the track next year."

Olympic champion

Hodgkinson dominated the women's 800m Olympic final in Paris to win her first Olympic gold and her first gold medal on the world stage.

Ran perfectly

Kenya's Mary Moraa threatened Hodgkinson on the outside, but she held on perfectly to cross the line in one minute and 56.72 seconds. Ethiopia's Tsige Duguma (1:57.15) won silver, while world champion Moraa (1:57.42) settled for bronze.

"I can't believe I have finally done it"

According to the BBC Sport website, Hodgkinson said: "I have worked really hard for the last year, and I think you can see how much it meant to me when I crossed the line. I can't believe I have finally done it!"

Tenth woman

The new 800m Olympic champion is the tenth woman from Great Britain to win a gold medal on the track, joining Jessica Ennis-Hill and Denise Lewis.

Picking up silvers

Hodgkinson has finally won a gold medal on the world stage, having won silver at the Tokyo Olympics, two silver medals at the World Championships, and a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games.

Going for gold

According to The Independent, the fastest woman in the 800m vowed she will never be beaten in a major final, and she has got off to the perfect start at the 2024 Olympics.

Suffering from setbacks

Britain's 'Golden Girl' has bounced back from severe setbacks in her life before to become one of the country's most hopeful athletes to secure gold in the summer.

Deaf on one side

The Telegraph reports that in 2015, Hodgkinson bounced back from an operation to remove a tumour on her ear that left her deaf on one side. Not long after, she became the first junior woman in history to break the sub-two-minute mark in the 800m.

British podium

At the London Diamond League on July 20th, Hodgkinson was joined by fellow Brits Georgia Bell and Jemma Reekie on the podium, showcasing Britain's dominance in the event.

Reasons to be excited

Team GB has not had two medals in the same athletics discipline since 1984 and has not had a clean sweep on an Olympic podium since 1908. Unfortunately, it wasn't to be at these Olympic Games.

Carry on winning gold?

The 22-year-old has plenty more years in the tank, so will she carry on her gold medal domination in the 800m?
