Darts has evolved from a pub game to one of the most cherished sports in the world, with some of the biggest names currently dominating at the oche. Here are the greatest darts players ever.
Despite failing to win the PDC World Championship, James Wade has enjoyed a storied spell at the top of darts, winning the Masters, the Premier League, two World Grand Prix, and a World Matchplay. His 11 PDC majors are third all-time.
Nicknamed 'Wolfie,' Martin Adams is a three-time BDO world champion and three-time Masters champion. After making his debut in 1994, Adams played at 25 straight PDC World Championships. He was also the captain of England from 1993 until 2013.

Bob Anderson was one of the original kings of darts and helped popularize the sport in the 1980s. He won the BDO World Championship in 1988 and held the world number-one title for three years in the late 1980s.
There is no doubt that 17-year-old Luke Littler will be higher up on this list in a few years, but right now, he misses out on the top ten. The teenage sensation reached back-to-back PDC World Championships finals and is the new champion. In 2024, he won ten PDC events.

Adrian 'Jackpot' Lewis hails from Stoke-On-Trent and was labelled the next Phil Taylor due to residing in the same place. Lewis dominated darts in the early 2010s, securing back-to-back PDC World Championships in 2011 and 2012 and reaching the final of nearly every major.
Dennis Priestley and Phil Taylor forged one of the greatest rivalries in the 1990s, facing each other in several finals. Priestley won the BDO World Championship in 1991 and the PDC World Championship in 1994. He also lost in four World Championship finals to Taylor.

Gary Anderson is the greatest darts player to hail from Scotland. He won the PDC World Championship in 2015 and 2016, the World Cup of Darts in 2019, and holds the record for the most 180s in a match (22). He is a two-time Premier League winner and a World Matchplay winner.
John Lowe is recognised as the first player to hit a 9-darter on TV in 1984 and the first player to become a world champion in three different decades (1979, 1983, 1993). The two-time Masters champion formed an epic rivalry with Eric Bristow in the 1980s.

Stoke On Trent's Phil 'The Power' Taylor is the greatest darts player by a landslide, securing 16 World Championship victories (14 PDC, 2 BDO), eight World Championships in a row, 16 World Matchplay titles, and 11 World Grand Prix. Taylor is the sport's biggest star.
