An FC Barcelona icon for years, Andrés Iniesta was known for his incredible technique and vision. Nicknamed 'El Ilusionista', he was the man who guided Spain to their first-ever World Cup glory in 2010, engraving his name in history.

Raúl González Blanco

Raúl González Blanco was a striker with a mind-blowing goalscoring ability. The Madrid-born netted 323 goals for Real Madrid, winning six league titles and three Champions Leagues with Los Merengues.

Collecting 126 caps for Spain and playing 494 games for FC Barcelona, Andoni Zubizarreta just has to be in this list.

Cesc Fabregas

A product of FC Barcelona's famous La Masia academy, Cesc Fabregas broke through at Arsenal at a very young age. The Spaniard oozed class, enjoying successful spells at FC Barcelona and Chelsea, and was a part of Spain's 2010 World Cup winning team.

Carles Puyol

A defender everybody wanted to play alongside, but not against, Carles Puyol was not the most refined football player, but easily made up for that with his high work rate and incredible power. The Catalan spent his entire career at FC Barcelona, winning countless trophies with La Blaugrana.

Xabi Alonso

Known for his precise passing and elegant playing style, Xabi Alsono impressed at Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. With 114 caps for Spain (16 goals), he also had a big impact on La Roja.

Gerard Piqué

Starting his career at Manchester United, but really excelling at FC Barcelona, Gerard Piqué is one of the best Spanish centre-backs ever, with a trophy cabinet that speaks for itself.

Sergio Ramos

A Real Madrid icon, Sergio Ramos was a key figure during a highly successful decade in Los Merengues's history, with four Champions League wins. Ramos is also Spain's most capped player, representing his country at the 2008 and 2012 Euro's and the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Emilio Butragueño

Just like David Villa, Emilio Butragueño had no problems finding the back of the net. The Spaniard did so on 171 occasions for Real Madrid, which puts him in the top ten of Los Merengues's all-time top scorers.

Xavi Hernandez

One of the best Spanish midfielders ever, if not the best. Xavi Hernandez revolutionized the game at FC Barcelona and La Roja, dictating like no other with accurate passes and well-thought-out tempo changes.

Francisco Gento

Part of the legendary Real Madrid side that won five consecutive European Cups in the 50s, Francisco Gento engraved his name in Spanish football's history. Known for his acceleration, Gento made 600 appearances for Los Merengues, finding the back of the net 182 times.

Luis Suárez Miramontes

Considered one of the best Spanish midfielders ever and winner of the 1960 Ballon d'Or, Luis Suárez Miramontes excelled at FC Barcelona and Internazionale. With the Nerazzurri, he bagged two European Cups and three league titles.

A deadly striker in his time, Telmo Zarra scored 335 goals in 354 appearances for Athletic Bilbao. A figure that puts him up there among the most proactive Spanish forwards ever.

David Silva

Amancio Amaro Varela

Nine-time Spanish champion Amacio Amaro Varela is revered as a legend at Real Madrid. The forward contributed to Los Merengues's sixth European Cup win, two years after crowning himself European champion with Spain.
