The Los Angeles Angels record third highest MLB victory since 1900
The Los Angeles Angels recorded the third-biggest win in the MLB since 1900, beating the Colorado Rockies 25-1 last weekend.
The Angels set new franchise records for runs, hits (28), and margin of victory, including a 13-run third inning.
According to theguardian.com, Angels manager Phil Nevin said: "We attacked pitches in the zone. Hitting gets contagious at times. Big boys get into something like that in the third; it fires up the clubhouse."
Mike Trout, Brandon Drury, and Matt Thaiss hit consecutive home runs, opening up the 13-run third inning.
According to theguardian.com, Angels David Fletcher said: "I don't think I've seen anything like that, honestly, starting with three homers in a row, pretty unbelievable."
After The Angels crushing victory, here are the largest victories in the MLB since 1900.
The Toronto Blue Jays dealt a crushing blow to the Boston Red Sox in July 2022, securing a 28-5 victory after nine innings.
A 7-0 third and an 11-0 fifth innings put the game to bed for the Blue Jays, who were 25-3 up just after halfway through play. Danny Jansen was the star for Toronto, hitting two homers.
The Boston Red Sox were on the end of another thrashing nearly 100 years before their Blue Jays defeat, losing 27-3 to the Cleveland Indians.
The Indians had at least one run in all nine innings, including a 13-0 sixth inning. Cleveland scored 13 home runs, with three coming from third base Norm McMillan.
The Colorado Rockies calamitous season continued on Saturday, losing 25-1 to the Los Angeles Angels, picking up their 49th loss of the regular season.
The Rockies failed to score a single run until the eighth inning; by then, the damage had already been done, with The Angels picking up 24 runs before the seventh.
Despite the previous embarrassment in the other games on this list, the Boston Red Sox did get a victory back, defeating the St Louis Browns 29-4 in 1950.
Bobby Doerr stood out for the Red Sox, scoring three home runs, including eight RBIs. St Louis only scored runs in the third and ninth innings.
The largest win since 1900 came in the 2007 contest between Texas Rangers and the Baltimore Orioles, with Texas demolishing them 30-3.
Baltimore was up 3-0 in the third inning. Still, thanks to Ramon Vazquez and Jarrod Saltalamacchia's two homers each, Texas scored 30 runs between the fourth and ninth, leading to the fifth most significant victory in MLB history.
