The top talent to take off waivers in fantasy football for Week 10 in the NFL
It’s getting down to crunch time in fantasy football. Fantasy managers are desperately trying to make a late-season charge to snatch up one of the final playoff spots in their league. Others might be looking ahead with an eye towards keeping the good times rolling and making a postseason run. Either way, we have eight players who should be at the top of mind this week on waivers. All statistics are sourced from Football Reference.
McCloud had somewhat disappeared off of the fantasy radar as the season has wore on, but he’s back on it now. His three catches and 28 yards in Week 9 are not going to jump off the page, but he did secure a touchdown pass on Sunday. His chances to produce in the coming weeks appear to have improved, which is why he should receive a long look in fantasy.
Falcons top wide receiver Drake London was forced from the team’s last game with a hip injury. We’ll see just how serious the ailment proves to be, but McCloud should step into a larger role against a reeling New Orleans Saints team in Week 10. Additionally, Atlanta quarterback Kirk Cousins seems to have found a rhythm, throwing for seven touchdowns in the last two games.

In that same Falcons contest, another situation on the other side of the field shifted some dominoes for fantasy purposes. Dallas’ star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb played through an AC joint ailment in his right shoulder, according to NBC Sports. This is a problematic injury for a wide receiver, who needs to raise his arms and hands to make plays.
Enter Tolbert, who had a modest three catches and 19 yards on Sunday, but also hauled in a touchdown. It remains to be seen how serious the hamstring injury that Dak Prescott suffered is, but Tolbert should be targeted in fantasy even if Cooper Rush is forced to start under center. Tolbert has posted at least 42 yards in four out of the last six games, and that floor should rise if Lamb is out or compromised.
Brooks may have been somewhat of a forgotten man in fantasy leagues this year. As a reminder, Brooks was one of the most impressive prospects coming into the 2024 Draft. According to the NFL’s website, he was the near consensus top running back in his class. He tore his ACL in November 2023 in college, and has yet to play an NFL snap.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Brooks will make his NFL debut in Week 10 for Carolina against the New York Giants. Although it’s fair to wonder just how many touches Brooks will get in his debut, a star talent cannot be left on fantasy waiver wires. If someone left him behind, make sure to scoop him up.
New Orleans top wide receiver Chris Olave was forced out of their Week 9 game with a gruesome concussion. Given his extensive history with brain injuries, it may be some time before he re-enters the lineup. The Saints’ passing target tree will have to be redistributed as a result, and Johnson is a great flier to take.
The Saints don’t have another wide receiver who feels like they will emerge as a serious threat for looks, so quarterback Derek Carr may look at his tight ends more throughout the coming weeks. Taysom Hill remains a versatile, do-it-all weapon, but his usage is hard to predict. Johnson might be the big-bodied player Carr would lean on in high-leverage situations.

This is more what Los Angeles supporters envisioned when the team took Johnston in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Sports Illustrated noted that Chargers fans “went wild” after his breakout game against the Cleveland Browns. Johnston posted four catches for 118 yards and a touchdown.
It can be difficult to rely on Johnston for eye-popping yardage production, but he has seemed to emerge as a touchdown maker in his second professional campaign. He caught two-touchdowns against Carolina in a September blowout. If you’re in need of a home-run threat, Johnston or teammate Josh Palmer are worthy options.
Regardless of what happens for the rest of the season, Brown will likely best be remembered for his Hail Mary catch that gave Washington the win against the Chicago Bears in Week 8. While there was a little bit of luck involved in that highlight reel play, Brown’s production on Sunday seemed to be a bit more legitimate.
Following his shining moment, Brown caught five passes for 60 yards in a victory over the Giants in Week 9. Perhaps most notably, he led the team in targets on Sunday, with six. Granted, Jayden Daniels wasn’t exactly airing the ball out early and often, but fantasy managers always feel good about deploying receivers who play with dynamic quarterbacks.
ESPN wrote a piece about Ridley before Week 9 discussing how a change in his routine has allowed him to play better. Rock-bottom for Ridley came in Week 6, when he didn’t catch a single pass on eight targets. Since then, things have picked up in a major way, and fantasy managers need to double and triple check that he’s not available on the wire.
Ridley had five catches for 73 yards on Sunday, after a 10 catch, 143 yard performance in Week 8. Whether it’s the routine shift, or the fact that there are more targets available after the departure of DeAndre Hopkins, Ridley has found his form as a top pass catcher once again.
Week 9’s game versus the Chicago Bears is one that Benson will never forget. He scored his first NFL touchdown in the contest, and the rookie is hopeful that there is more where that came from. So far, Benson has been deployed as more of a change of pace option in Arizona’s backfield.

Starting Cardinals running back James Conner has missed four games in each of the previous two seasons. While he hasn’t been forced out of the lineup yet this year, history tells us that some time on the sidelines might be right around the corner. Benson is one of the best running back lottery tickets in the NFL, which you should be holding if you can burn the roster spot.
