Vinicius Jr. went into Brazil's final group match against Colombia at the Copa America with just one job: to not get a yellow card, as that would mean he would be suspended for the quarter-final against Uruguay.

7 minutes

It took the Real Madrid star just seven minutes to get a yellow card from referee Jesus Valenzuela and be ruled out of the match against Uruguay.

Absurd behaviour

What is worse is that Vinicius Jr.'s behaviour was absurd and inexplicable.

James Rodriguez

It all happened in the middle of the pitch, in a dispute with James Rodriguez, one of Colombia's biggest stars.

In the face of James

Vinicius Jr. landed his hand on James' face, who went to the ground.

No hesitation

There was no doubt that the Brazilian hit James' face. The referee did not hesitate and gave Vini a yellow card for his action.

Yellow against Paraguay

Vinicius Jr. had already received a yellow card in Brazil's previous match against Paraguay in the 83rd minute, per Transfermarkt. Two yellows means he is suspended for the quarter-finals.

Savinho

Brazil coach, Dorival Junior, will now have to count again on Savinho, Vinicius Jr.'s replacement, to face a Uruguay in great form at this Copa America.

Clear penalty not awarded

Vinicius Jr.'s yellow was deserved, but the Brazilian also deserved a clear penalty, which was reviewed by VAR but not awarded.
