Where are they now? A look at previous Offensive MVP College Football Championship winners

The number one Michigan Wolverines pounced on the Washington Huskies from the start, winning the 2024 National Championship Game, 34-13.

The Wolverines finished the season as the only undefeated team in college football, taking their record to 15-0 and helping them claim their first national title since 1997.

The Offensive MVP for the Wolverines was running back Blake Corum, who finished the game off for Michigan after his 12-yard touchdown with seven minutes left gave Michigan a two-touchdown lead.

Running back Corum was the standout player in Michigan's offense, running for 133 yards and scoring the final two touchdowns after the Wolverines offense stalled midway through the game.

Historically, the offensive MVP winner of the National Championship game has gone on to be a high draft pick and an elite player in the NFL. Here are the five previous winners!

Quarterback Stetson Bennett won the Offensive MVP in the Championship game in 2023 and 2022 as the Georgia Bulldogs became back-to-back champions.

In the 2022 game, Bennett passed for four touchdowns and 274 yards, and in 2023, he passed for a total of six touchdowns, a record shared with Joe Burrow. He was selected as the 128^th pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and is yet to play for the Los Angeles Rams.

Former Alabama wide receiver Devonta Smith won the 2021 Offensive MVP award as he set records for title game catches (12), touchdown receptions (3), and totaling 215 yards when Alabama beat Ohio State 52-24.

The Heisman Trophy winner was selected tenth in the 2021 NFL Draft and broke the Philadelphia Eagles record for most receiving yards as a rookie (916). In 2022, he helped the Eagles to the Super Bowl, catching 95 passes for 1,196 yards and seven touchdowns.

Former LSU quarterback Joe Burrow won the Offensive MVP in 2020, throwing for 463 yards with six touchdowns as LSU beat Clemson, 42-25. Burrow was selected as the first overall pick by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Since joining the Bengals in 2020, Burrow has led Cincinnati to their first Super Bowl appearance since 1988 in 2021. He holds the franchise record in season passing yards (4,611), most passing touchdowns (35), and the NFL record in career completion percentage (68%).

Quarterback Trevor Lawrence passed for 347 yards and three touchdowns as the Clemson Tigers handed Alabama their worst defeat under Nick Saban, winning 44-16 in the 2019 national title game.

Like Burrow, Lawrence was selected first overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars and transformed the franchise from a losing team to records of 9-8 and 8-8 in the last two seasons. He has received one Pro Bowl selection in 2022.

The 2018 Offensive MVP in the national title game was quarterback Tua Tagovailoa after helping Alabama to a 26-23 victory over Georgia with 166 passing yards and three passing touchdowns.

After an average first three seasons in the NFL, the Miami Dolphins quarterback has got things heating up on South Beach, leading the league in passing yards (4,624) and a record of 11-6. The Dolphins now face the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Wild Card.

If Blake Corum can replicate the careers of the previous winners of the Offensive MVP award, Corum will have an excellent career in the pros.
