Logan Sargeant is in the spotlight following another challenging season for the American F1 driver. Known for being "crash-prone," Sargeant will leave Williams at the end of 2025 and be replaced by Carlos Sainz. The 23-year-old driver will now need to find a new seat for the next season.

Brundle's opinion

Sky Sports commentator Martin Brundle has urged Williams to take action and sack Logan Sargeant before the end of the F1 season. The American driver has struggled to perform in the FW46 and has faced heavy criticism regarding his abilities behind the wheel.

A surprise

"It was a surprise to many that Williams kept on Sargeant after the underwhelming 2023 campaign, and has fared little better in his second season," according to The Daily Express.

Outpaced by Albon

Sargeant has been consistently outpaced by his teammate Alex Albon in every race, both in qualifying and the official events. However, it’s his frequent crashes that have put the team on edge.

Accident in Zandvoort

The American driver had already crashed his car before the race even began. During the final practice session at the Dutch Grand Prix, Sargeant had a major accident. The wet conditions caused him to lose grip, sending his car into a nearby barrier and causing it to catch fire.

The car needed some patching

Although Sargeant escaped unharmed, the Williams mechanics were unable to ready the car for the race, impacting the team's performance at Zandvoort.

Nine races left

With nine races left on the calendar, Martin Brundle claims Williams may not be able to afford to keep Sargeant on as he isn't challenging for points and is costing the team too much money in crash damage.

No points

"Logan's not scoring points for them. He's costing them [Williams] a fortune in repairs. And if you're making replacement parts, you're not making development parts. All your resources are going into just keeping two cars on the track," shared Brundel during a post-race interview.

Cut him loose

"Williams must look at this situation now and think, 'we can't afford to keep running Logan Sargeant through the rest of this season'," shared Brundle according to the Daily Express.

Substitute

The former F2 star is in a serious predicament following yet another disastrous season. The Dutch Grand Prix is just one of many examples of his struggles. If Williams wants to achieve better results by the end of the season, they might need to replace Sargeant now. Mick Schumacher or Liam Lawson could be good alternatives, as both have proven their worth on the tarmac.
