Is Caitlin Clark forming a power friendship with Taylor Swift?
It’s hard to find two people that define their respective professions more than Caitlin Clark and Taylor Swift. Clark is coming off a banner 2024 and being named Time Magazine’s Athlete of the Year. Swift’s Eras Tour ended in December 2024, and both seem to be huge fans of one another. They might take that admiration to the next level and hang out as friends in short order.
Taylor Swift wrote “22” back in 2013 just as she was getting her legendary career started, but it might as well be a theme song for Caitlin Clark. Number 22 on the Indiana Fever has turned up the volume in her own right, and Clark has not been bashful about sharing her love for Swift’s music.
As Today’s website pointed out, Clark was in attendance for two of Swift’s performances in Indianapolis in early November. She’s a legitimate Swiftie, as Sports Illustrated’s Matthew Graham noted that Clark traded friendship bracelets and charmers with other Swift enthusiasts during her concerts.

Clark’s excitement for the performances also came across on her social media posts. The Indiana Fever star wrote “IM FIRED UP!!!!!!!” with footage of the stage.
While she was still playing at the University of Iowa, Clark shared on X that her favorite Taylor Swift song was Enchanted, and proceeded to sing the song (albeit not as well as Swift herself).
While Clark’s story and Swift’s story have overlapped given the basketball star’s love for the latter’s music, it seems like the two forces of nature are drawing closer together.
According to People’s website, Clark had the chance to meet Swift’s boyfriend, NFL star tight end Travis Kelce, at the concert. Clark was also introduced to Taylor Swift’s mom, Andrea.
After the Indianapolis concerts, Swift gave Clark four bags full of her merchandise, according to Time Magazine. Swift also included a note for Clark, saying that the hoops star was inspiring to watch from afar. Swift also said that her and Kelce were planning to attend an Indiana Fever game to watch her play.
Swift even invited Clark to hang out with her at a Kansas City Chiefs game. As sports fans and non-sports fans alike know, Swift’s appearances at Chiefs games have taken on a life of their own. Adding Clark to that mix might drive attention into another stratosphere.

It didn’t seem possible, but Clark and Swift may have planted the seeds for a budding friendship that is set to evolve in the coming years. It makes some sense, as their level of fame is so foreign to most that they would understand what the other goes through on a daily basis.
Despite gobs of cameras and press, Swift and Clark have managed to go about their business without much of a hiccup. Even without Swift’s personal invitation, Clark has already graced Arrowhead Stadium to watch a Chiefs game.
As The Kansas City Star’s Lisa Gutierrez penned in April 2024, Caitlin Clark comes from a family full of Chiefs fans. That includes her father, older brother, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Clark told USA Today, “So, there was an embarrassing picture of me in all Chiefs gear floating around earlier today.”
Caitlin Clark is used to defending her every move, and was in a position to do so in September after she liked one of Taylor Swift’s posts on social media. Swift wrote a lengthy post about why she was voting for Kamala Harris in the United States presidential election. People wondered what Clark’s like truly signified.
Clark had to dance around the touchy topic, but told reporters, “I have this amazing platform, so I think the biggest thing would be to just encourage people to register to vote. That’s the biggest thing I can do with the platform that I have and that’s the same thing Taylor did.”
