Mock Draft 9.0 17-32: Wide receivers and offensive tackles aplenty

The Jags need talent, and they need to make life easier for Trevor Lawrence. Latham is a “plug-and-play guy at tackle or guard,” per Garrett Podell of CBS Sports, which is exactly what Jacksonville needs.

Much like the Jags, the Bengals need to improve their offensive line, and given who’s left in the draft, there may be no better option than Mims to provide them with size, athleticism, and elite talent along their offensive front.

It’s tough to see the Rams not selecting Latu if he falls to 19, ESPN, CBS Sports, and Bleacher Report all have the same selection while NFL Network has the Rams taking Jared Verse, who’s already gone in this mock.

The Steelers took some swings at the QB position in the offseason, acquiring Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. Who knows if they will work out, but their lives will be made much easier by having an elite center prospect ahead of them.

The Dolphins’ two main pass rushers are out for at least the start of the 2024 season, suggesting they need some help. Chop Robinson is as athletic as they come and could blossom into an elite EDGE defender in time.

The Eagles are either going to take a tackle or a corner with this pick, and it could depend on how the board falls. DeJean is an exciting prospect, posting a 4.43 40-yard dash on his Pro Day per Sporting News, putting any doubts about his athleticism to bed.

If Murphy is available at 23, the Cardinals (who are picking here due to the Vikings trade-up) would be silly not to select him. He’s the best interior defensive lineman in the draft, an area of weakness for Arizona.

If Guyton makes it past Philly, expect the Cowboys to grab him as soon as they can when they’re on the clock. As Mel Kiper asks, “This has to be a tackle, right?”

McKinstry is the next-best defensive back left in the draft, as Cory Giddings writes for Bleacher Report, “McKinstry can immediately take over a starting spot if necessary or provide quality depth at the onset of his career.”

The Bucs need more speed offensively, to take some pressure off Mike Evans at the very least. We compared Thomas to D.J. Chark in a recent piece, and we think that undersells his ability but gives you an idea of his play style, which should work well with Baker Mayfield’s hero-ball playstyle.

The Draft Wire has interior offensive line as the Cardinals' third-biggest need going into the draft, behind wide receiver and QB. QB isn’t going to be addressed this offseason and WR was taken care of earlier in the draft, so Graham Barton, the consummate guard, it is.

The Bills lost both Steffon Diggs and Gabe Davis in the offseason which means this pick has to be a wide receiver. Mitchell is the best available, so this is an easy fit.

Worthy holds the record for the fastest 40-yard dash time ever recorded at the NFL Scouting Combine, per ESPN, so putting him in Ben Johnson’s high-flying offense should be fun.

The Ravens give off a vibe of being big, strong, and violent. All of these words can equally be used to describe Robinson, who has experience playing on both the interior and exterior of the defensive line.

The Niners need offensive line help, and Suamataia is probably the best player left. He was a tackle in college but, given the Niners’ needs, could slide into guard if required.

Give Mahomes another weapon. The Chiefs seem intent on winning Super Bowls with terrible wide receivers, so why not make it a little easier for themselves?
