2024 is in full swing and has been a great year for sport so far, but some of the best events are still to come. Let's take a look at the 2024 sporting events we can still look forward to.

20 April: start of NBA play-offs

On 20 April, the best teams in the NBA will come face to face in the play-offs. The best players in the world will be there, with the unfortunate exception of Victor Wembanyama and the Spurs, who are bottom of their conference.

20 May: Roland Garros

On 20 May, like every year, Paris will host the second Grand Slam tournament of the season. And this year's French Open could well be the last for the greatest clay-court player in history: Rafael Nadal.

23 May: Monte Carlo GP

The most beautiful Formule 1 Grand Prix in the world returns to Monaco on May 23. It's the event of the year for all Formula 1 fans, who may even witness a victory for local hero Charles Leclerc.

1 June: Champions League final

On 1 June, football fans around the world will have their eyes glued to their screens for the 2024 Champions League final. Who will succeed Manchester City as Europe's best club?

14 June: Euro 2024

The summer of 2024 will be totally insane, with UEFA Euro kicking off on 14 June. Italy will be looking to defend their title in Germany, while Kylian Mbappé's France and Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane's England are the big favourites.

21 June: Copa America

One week later, it's time for the Copa America. The Argentinians are putting their title back on the line and will be looking to complete a historic treble in what could be the last international tournament of Lionel Messi's impressive career.

29 June: Tour de France

On 29 June, the most eagerly-awaited cycling event in the world will start in Florence, Italy, before heading to France. Are you ready for chapter 3 of an already legendary duel between Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard?

1 July: Wimbledon

1 July marks the start of Wimbledon, the third Grand Slam tournament of the year. Last year, Carlos Alcaraz won the title after a breathtaking final against Novak Djokovic. Who will come out on top in 2024?

26 July: opening ceremony 2024 Olympics

Undoubtedly the event of the year. On 26 July, Paris will host the Summer Olympics, before the Paralympics on 28 August. 32 disciplines will be on show this year, with 10,500 athletes competing!

26 August: US Open

No tennis season is complete without the US Open, the fourth Grand Slam tournament of the year. Novak Djokovic will be looking to extend his title at Flushing Meadows, after a comfortable three-set victory over Daniil Medvedev in last year's final.

21 September: UCI Road World Championships

Shortly after the US Open, the UCI Road World Championships will take place in Zurich, Switzerland. After a crazy race last year, Mathieu Van der Poel will be looking to retain his rainbow jersey against his biggest rivals.
