Max Verstappen, the young Dutch Formula 1 driver with three consecutive world titles to his name, needs no further introduction. His impressive racing achievements are well known, but what does he actually spend his money on?

Formula 1 salary

With his second consecutive Formula One World Championship in 2022, Verstappen earned considerable sums of money. According to estimates by leading business magazine Forbes, his income in 2022 was a whopping $60 million. That amount came from gross salaries ($40 million) and bonuses ($20 million) from Red Bull Racing.

Substantial sums in 2022 and 2023

Verstappen's successful 2023 season also saw a lot of money coming his way. For starters, there was his salary of $55 million.

Verstappen's sponsorship revenue

However, those were not Verstappen's only earnings. In fact, in addition to his driver salary at Red Bull, Verstappen has several personal sponsors in addition to team-related sponsors.

Who are his sponsors?

His most well-known personal sponsor is Dutch supermarket chain Jumbo, in addition to Heineken, Viaplay and EA Sports. These sponsorship deals earn him another few million every year.

Highest-earning Formula 1 driver

In 2022, Verstappen not only won his second consecutive Formula One World Championship, but also claimed the title of 'highest-earning Formula 1 driver', according to Dutch website Accountant.nl; a title that was held by another superstar F1 driver...

Hamilton surpassed

From 2013 to 2021, Lewis Hamilton was the highest-paid Formula 1 driver. In 2022, however, he earned 'only' $55 million and had to settle for second place in terms of earnings.

Total income

This brings Verstappen's total annual income to around $65 million, meaning he now earns $178,000 a day.

Verstappen's estimated net worth

Verstappen's net worth is thus growing steadily. According to leading business magazine Forbes, his net worth is estimated at $200 million in 2023. This provides him with financial flexibility and opportunities.

Verstappen's possesions

But what do you do with that money? What do you spend it on? Read on to find out what Verstappen bought with his millions.

Where does Verstappen live?

Verstappen first lived in the Netherlands, but these days he has swapped his native country for sunny Monaco, where he rents a lavish flat whose exact rental price is unknown, according to F1Max. Looking at a similar flat in the same street for comparison, we see a monthly rent close to an impressive €16,000.

Buy?

Verstappen's house is also open for purchase, should he ever decide to do so. In that case, it has a price tag of a whopping €16 million.

Verstappen's opulent residence

But of course, for that amount of money, you get quite something. Verstappen's opulent residence is located in the exclusive Fontvieille district, where the world-famous driver enjoys a stunning panoramic view of the sea.

Helicopter platform

Moreover, a helicopter platform is a only short walk away, allowing him to travel to Nice airport in a very short time. And for his car collection, he conveniently has a garage available around the corner.

Why Monaco?

Monaco is home to more famous F1 drivers. According to F1Max, this is because of the famous Monaco Grand Prix, which is organised in the sunny city-state every year. The historic Monaco GP holds a special place in the world of Formula 1 and attracts a lot of attention worldwide.

Taxes

However, the choice for Monaco as his home base is not exclusively due to the GP. Monaco is also known as a tax haven, where residents are exempt from income tax and wealth tax. For many F1 drivers, including Verstappen, this translates into significant financial benefits, allowing him to save millions over the years.

Car collection

Verstappen cannot just take his Red Bull F1 car onto public roads. Therefore, according to motorsport.com, he has a number of exciting cars at his disposal for daily driving and fun. Verstappen owns an Aston Martin DBS Superleggera, an Aston Martin Valkyrie, a Ferrari 488 Pista, a Ferrari Monza SP2, a Honda NSX and a Porsche 911 GT2 RS.

Aston Martin DBS Superleggera

One of his more expensive cars, according to F1Max, is the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera, of which there are only 50 worldwide. It features an eight-speed gearbox and can reach an astonishing top speed of 340 kilometres per hour. Its price tag? Around 372,136 euros.

Ferrari Monza SP2

Another eye-catching part of Verstappen's car collection is the Ferrari Monza SP2, the successor to the SP1. Price tag: €1.6 million. It has a powerful 6.5-litre V12 engine that goes from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds. Only five hundred were ever produced.

Private jet

Anything else?

According to Accountant.nl, at 25 years old, Verstappen is the youngest member in the Quote 500, a list of the currently five hundred richest Dutch people published by business magazine Quote. With already 200 million in net worth and a glittering career ahead of him, Verstappen is probably far from finished indulging in luxurious and expensive purchases.
