Get to know the 2023 NFL On FOX Commentators
America’s Game Of The Week is still featured on Fox throughout the NFL’s regular season, and their coverage has been a familiar part of the football experience since 1994. Their in-game talent has changed in recent years, but they’ll still have faces NFL fans recognize. We’ll take a look at who will bring NFL fans games on Fox in 2023.
Fox seemed to be in dire straits after Joe Buck left the network to join ESPN, but Burkhardt passed his first test with flying colors. He was the lead play by play man last season when they had the rights to broadcast the Super Bowl. Burkhardt did a commendable job, and will be in the driver’s seat once again this season.
Teaming up with Burkhardt will be Olsen, a former NFL tight end. There was a lot of speculation about what might happen to Olsen’s role after Fox signed Tom Brady to a ten-year contract, but the quarterback will not be in the booth this season. Instead, the intelligent Olsen will continue to point out nuances of the game for fans.
Davis has been under Fox’s umbrella for some time, and is starting to spread his wings. He’s the lead play by play man for the network’s baseball coverage, and sits on the number two team on the football side. He’s been very good in the last couple of years, as many NFL fans will remember his enthusiastic call of Justin Jefferson’s miraculous fourth down catch a year ago.
Known as “Moose”, Johnston has been a staple of Fox’s NFL coverage for a few decades. While he played a position(fullback) that has all but become extinct in the NFL, Johnston’s way of professionally commenting on the action has been valued for a long time. He was best known as a player for paving the way for Emmitt Smith on the Dallas Cowboys.
Count Amin as another younger play by play voice who figures to be around for many years. Chicago sports fans are very familiar with his work regionally, as he’s also the play by play voice of Bulls basketball. Still just 36 years old, Amin has a bright future ahead of him in the media, and could be courted for other roles if he continues to impress.

Older generations of fans will remember Schlereth as a player who got things done in the trenches. He’s a renowned offensive lineman who played with the Washington Commanders and Denver Broncos. Many fans are interested in what happens with skill position players, but Schlereth isn’t afraid to highlight the players who are doing the dirty work.
It seems like there’s no sporting event Albert won’t be on hand for. He’s been on the call for basketball, baseball, football and hockey games, and will be back at it again on Fox this NFL season. He is the son of the famous sportscaster Marv Albert, who is a legendary voice in NBA circles. Marv also called NFL games as well.
It’s not usually encouraged for color analysts to step on the toes of their play by play partners, but Vilma found a nice sweet spot in that realm a year ago. The most notable instance came in a wild game between the Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Falcons, where a Hail Mary tied the game. Vilma’s shock and awe perfectly captured what fans were feeling at that moment.
He doesn’t get the same acclaim as others on Fox, but Kugler is a reliable play by play announcer. Most of his work comes in the college ranks, as he’s a fixture on football and basketball telecasts on campus. However, he’s been calling NFL games for a little while now, and brings a steady presence to the TV screen.
The former New York Jets quarterback seems to be hitting his stride in his second career. Sanchez can sometimes bring out some corny sayings that fans can do without, but his quirky passion for the game is usually still a positive for the broadcast. He does bring a lot of knowledge when it comes to analyzing the most important position on the field.
Myers has appeared on Fox in various roles, including as a studio host and a play by play announcer. He will sometimes tend to bring his opinion into the game more than others in his position would. Last year’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs New York Jets game was a good example, as he speculated that Antonio Brown’s career in the NFL might have been over after he ran off the field.
Like Kugler, Smith is better known for his work on college football games than on NFL games. Smith is a former NFL running back who played eight seasons for the Minnesota Vikings. Ironically, his highest rushing total came in the final year of his career, where he posted 1,521 yards on the ground in the 2000 season.
As crucial calls help determine the outcome of games, Fox is equipped with a former NFL head of officiating ready to jump in whenever a tough situation arises. Pereira pops into broadcasts during suspect penalty calls, fumble or catch replays and many other scenarios. His perspective is valuable, as he reminds viewers that officials are calling games via the letter of the law.
