NFL Power Rankings after the regular season: Who is our Super Bowl favorite?
After 18 gruelling weeks, the NFL regular season has come to its conclusion. Now, all attention turns to the playoffs, where one team will emerge as the eventual Super Bowl champions. Elsewhere, there's disappointment, coaching vacancies and big change coming.
The Giants didn't finish with the worst record in football, so perhaps they aren't deserving of the last spot in our rankings. However, if we project forward, their decision to keep Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen on as HC and GM respectively, plus the lack of assurance of one of the top QB prospects makes any future in New York look bleak.
The Titans at least have the chance to pick their favorite quarterback from this class after securing the number one overall pick. It's not projected to be a great QB class, but they need to do something to address the position.

Talent-wise, the Jets should be nowhere near 30th, and many other rankings have them significantly higher. We just feel the future of this team is clouded with Woody Johnson's ongoing ownership. Owners can make a huge difference in the NFL, and Johnson isn't among the best out there. Who they choose as their next head coach will be significant.
Jerod Mayo was given a near impossible task to take a terrible roster and improve it in one year. Having not pulled off a miracle, he was let go by an organization that he had been loyal to for well over a decade as both a player and coach. Drake Maye looks talented, so there's something to build on there. Outside of Maye, there is a real lack of talent.
Shad Khan has fired Doug Pederson but kept general manager Trent Baalke, which by all accounts is a terrible decision. As Frank Schwab writes for Yahoo Sports, “It comes off as team owner Shad Khan not wanting to put in the time, effort or money to find a new coach and GM this offseason.”
Kevin Stefanski has credit in the bank to keep his job despite a terrible season in Cleveland. The Browns have put themselves in a terrible situation with the Deshaun Watson trade and contract but look to be ready to eat some cash to try and find their QB of the future.
Antonio Pierce is reportedly keeping his job in Vegas, which is fine if Mark Davis is willing to back Pierce for the long term. The Raiders need a quarterback and will need to be aggressive to find one. If they don't, it will be hard to blame Pierce if they continue to struggle.
NFL Network's Jane Slater has reported the Saints have requested to interview Eagles OC Kellen Moore for their vacant head coach position. Moore would be an interesting hire in NOLA, and one we could see working out if given time to rebuild a roster filled with mediocre players and few stars.
We liked the Anthony Richardson pick at the time by Indy, even if we understood how much development was needed. What we didn't expect was the consistency of his injuries, which is becoming a real worry. If Richardson can't stay healthy, he could set the Colts back a few years as they will need to find another QB.

The Bears finished the season on a high after beating bitter rivals Green Bay with a last-second field goal. The Bears have reportedly requested to speak to Mike McCarthy to fill their head coaching role, per NFL Network's Jane Slater. That is about as uninspiring as it gets and would be a wasted opportunity.
Dave Canales has something to build on in Carolina after his team finished the season strong. Bryce Young looked better and better as the season progressed, which should be encouraging. If he can continue this stellar level of play, the Panthers could have a shot at the NFC South next year if they make the right moves this offseason.
The Cowboys apparently don't know if they will be bringing back Mike McCarthy as their head coach or not, which is a worry. Not because we think he is an especially good coach, more than it's a symptom of how confusingly run this organization is.
How do you solve a problem like Brock Purdy's contract extensions? Purdy is a pretty good QB, who has flourished when surrounded by elite weapons, but is he worth $50 million + per season? We don't think so. We're not sure where the Niners would go instead, which makes this an interesting story to follow.
Kyler Murray was far too inconsistent in 2024 and will need to improve next year if the Cardinals have any chance of getting out of a tough NFC West. This is another team that lacks top end talent and needs to make some significant moves if it wants to contend.
Tyreek Hill did his best Antonio Brown impression on Sunday, telling reporters he is “out” of Miami. Hill had a disappointing season personally, not topping 1,000 yards, and the Dolphins missed the playoffs. If the Dolphins can find a trade partner for Hill, moving on from him doesn't look like a bad option.
Why did the Falcons bother giving Kirk Cousins that contract? Michael Penix Jr. looked good in his first starts as a Falcon, meaning Atlanta will need to pay Cousins to be a backup next year, or pay him to play somewhere else. Penix gives them hope, however.
The Steelers made the playoffs, but we can't see them doing much beyond that. While not quite as drastic as the 2023 Eagles, the Steelers' collapse this year was disastrous. From 10-3 to 10-7 to finish the year, Pittsburgh looked out of ideas on both sides of the ball. Mike Tomlin is a great coach, but there has been a cycle of mediocrity in Pittsburgh for some time.
The Seahawks fired offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb after just one season in charge of their offense. Grubb was never the conventional hire, having never coached in the NFL before, so not to give him more time seems like a harsh decision. It feels like Seattle is only a few pieces away from being competitive.
The Texans will welcome the Chargers into Houston on Saturday to kick-start the super wild card weekend. We expect the Chargers to win this game, as we have been unconvinced by Houston all year. CJ Stroud had a slight sophomore slump which led to a less effective offense. The defense has been one of the best in football, however.

Bo Nix had a better rookie season than anyone could have imagined after the selection was mocked by many in the media. The Broncos are good enough to make a playoff run. Whether this season is yet to be determined, but with a trip to Buffalo on Sunday, it seems unlikely.
The Bengals have fired defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo after a terrible season for Cincy's defense. Widely considered a great defensive mind, Anarumo wasn't given the tools to succeed as the Bengals consistently let talent walk out of the building. If the Bengals had made the playoffs, we wouldn't have wanted to bet against them.
Sean McVay's curious decision to rest his starters in week 18 has led to the Rams welcoming the Vikings to LA rather than the Commanders, which eschews conventional logic. McVay is a hell of a coach, though, so we wouldn't be surprised if the Rams won on Monday night. If they don't, this should be looked at as a terrible decision.
The Bucs didn't play great in the regular season finale, but did enough to win the division and will now host the Commanders in what should be a fun offensive matchup. Baker Mayfield has played lights out all year and is now in a position to make a deep playoff run.
It's tight at the top as there are a bunch of teams that we feel are essentially on equal footing as we head into the playoffs. The Commanders' defense leaves a lot to be desired, but Jayden Daniels and the offense have been one of the best units in the league this season and can win any game by themselves.
Jordan Love is reportedly healthy after suffering an elbow injury on Sunday. Whether it affects his play or not is worth monitoring. Christian Watson's ACL tear removes an important piece of the Packer's offense as they head into Philly to play one of the best defenses in football. The Packers have a chance on Sunday, but we think the talent gap is too large to overcome the Eagles.
Maybe we're overreacting to one performance, but Sam Darnold looked bad against the Lions as the Vikings only scored 9 points and missed out on a division title and the one seed. Kevin O’Connell et al. now head to LA to face a Rams team that has been putting in consistently excellent defensive performances in recent weeks.
Jesse Minter's defense allowed the fewest points in the league, per ESPN. The solidity on that side of the football, plus an excellent run game and Justin Herbert's continued excellence, makes the Chargers one of the most intriguing teams as we head into the playoffs. We think they have a real chance to go on a run.
Any one of our top five has a good argument for being number one, so don't take offense to the Ravens being at five, someone has to be. Lamar Jackson is one of the best quarterbacks we have ever seen after throwing 41 TDs to just 4 interceptions. The Ravens should be confident of beating the Steelers in the wild card round, and then who knows how far they can go.
Could this be the year the Sean McDermott Bills make it out of the AFC to the Super Bowl? It's entirely possible given how well Josh Allen is playing. Buffalo is a better team than the Broncos, and we expect them to win that matchup if Allen and the offense is firing.

The Eagles ran roughshod over the Cowboys and Giants the last two weeks despite missing Jalen Hurts for both games, which just shows how deep and talented this roster is. Hurts will need to shake off any rust quickly when the Eagles host the Packers on Sunday. We would love to watch and Eagles/Lions NFC Championship game, as we believe they're the two best teams in the NFC.
The Lions went 15-2 and claimed their first ever one seed. It has been an incredible few seasons for Detroit with Dan Campbell, Ben Johnson, Aaron Glenn, and Brad Holmes all deserving huge credit for their efforts in building this buzz saw of a team. Now it's all about reaching the Super Bowl.
The Chiefs may not have been the best team in the NFL this season, despite their impressive record. That being said, they are a team full of veterans who know how to win, and with a coaching staff that doesn't seem to make mistakes when the lights get brightest. The Chiefs have another gear to find in the playoffs, and a week to rest up and prepare for whoever their opponent may be.
