Olympic gold or Wimbledon? Carlos Alcaraz makes shock decision
Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz has picked between defending his title at Wimbledon and winning his first Olympic gold medal for Spain at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
After winning the French Open, Alcaraz finds himself in a unique position because he can win the 'Channel Slam,' winning back-to-back Wimbledon and Roland Garros titles.
With the Olympic tennis tournament being held at the same venue as the French Open, Alcaraz could join a list of five players to complete the 'Channel Slam' in the Open era.

July is going to be a hectic month for the world number two, as Wimbledon will finish on the 14th of July, while the Olympic tournament starts on the 27th of the same month.
With such a tight turnaround between the events, Alcaraz was asked if he would rather win an Olympic gold or retain his Wimbledon title.
According to Tennis 365, Alcaraz said: "It is complicated, but the Games are held every four years, and it is a special tournament because it is not just for you because you represent a whole country, all Spaniards. This year, I would choose an Olympic gold."
The Olympic gold in tennis is like the fifth Grand Slam title, with some of the best players in the world winning the medal for their country. Britain's Andy Murray became the first tennis player to win back-to-back gold medals in 2012 and 2016.
Alcaraz hopes to follow in the footsteps of his Spanish compatriot Rafael Nadal, who won the Olympic gold in Beijing in 2008. The New York Times has confirmed the pair will play together in doubles for the upcoming Games.
Alcaraz will have the added motivation of knowing two of his heroes, Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer, never won an Olympic gold in their careers, with Djokovic set to miss out because of a leg injury.
With the history and prestige of the Olympic Games, is Carlos Alcaraz right to choose winning an Olympic gold over another Wimbledon title?
