Recommended Fantasy Football Week 10 Waiver Wire Pickups
We’re getting down to crunch time in fantasy football, as managers know the intensity gets kicked up a notch once we head into the double-digit weeks. Whether teams are fighting to lock up first round byes or looking to sneak into the fantasy playoffs, there are savvy moves to be made that will boost teams’ chances moving forward.
Dobbs had one of the more impressive performances in recent memory on Sunday. He had just been traded to Minnesota earlier in the week, and was forced into duty as starter Jaren Hall suffered a concussion. Without knowing much of the playbook or many of his teammates’ names, Dobbs threw for two touchdown passes and ran for another. He’s slated to start again in Week 10.
Week 9’s game script makes it tough to truly assess whether the Ravens will shake up their backfield depth chart. Baltimore bludgeoned the Seattle Seahawks so badly that they were afforded the opportunity to run the ball for nearly the entire game. This allowed Mitchell to show what he could do, as he turned nine carries into 138 yards and a touchdown.
Tight end has been a stressful position to address for fantasy managers, which makes Otton’s recent glimmer of production worth raising an eyebrow for. He’s seen six or more targets in his last three games. Otton had his best game of the year in Week 9, catching six passes for 70 yards and two touchdowns.
Houston’s wide receiver corps has been difficult to keep tabs on this season, as many of their key players have been in and out of the lineup. However, it seems clear that C.J. Stroud is going to be more than capable of getting the ball into the hands of his playmakers. Brown figures to be in that mix, coming off a 153 yard performance against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
While Arthur Smith’s utilization decisions continue to befuddle fantasy football managers, it seems like one thing is for sure. Atlanta’s head coach is not going to phase Allgeier out of the Falcons’ running game, regardless of how it affects rookie back Bijan Robinson. For that reason, Allgeier needs to be rostered in fantasy.
There’s some concern that Smith might be turning back into a pumpkin after his stellar 2022 campaign, but it’s too early to write him off in fantasy football. He still plays with one of the most talented pass catching groups in the NFL, meaning that his production could bounce back in a big way if his receivers can make a man miss in the open field.
The Vikings acquired running back Cam Akers a few weeks ago to take some pressure off of starter Alexander Mattison. However, Akers suffered a devastating Achilles injury for the second time in his career on Sunday. This news thrusts Chandler back into the number two role, which could become important if anything were to happen to Mattison.
The Bears defense isn’t a unit that fantasy managers often look to with confidence, but they might be a viable streaming option in Week 10. Chicago faces the Carolina Panthers on Thursday Night Football, which means exposure to a struggling Bryce Young. The chances that Young figures it out on a short week seem slim, which makes the Bears defense an appealing play.
